PI adjudged winner in top 3 categories at the World Leadership Congress - Business Leader of the Year Awards

    Feb, 2021

PI wins top honor across three categories at the 19th Global Edition and 4th India Edition of World Leadership Congress – Business Leader of the Year Awards held on 17 February 2021.

Most Admired Company of the Year

    Evaluation parameters for the award:
    • Sustained and consistent performance showcased by the organisation
    • Contributions to customers, employees, the community, to the nation
    • Dealing with the pandemic and initiatives undertaken to continue business operations
    • Adoption of digital technologies and people-first initiatives
    • Corporate governance and community interventions
    • Contributions made to join the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic

For 75 years now, PI’s value-added offerings help millions of farmers increase farm yield and profitability. Delivering impressive returns to our investors year after year, we also add significantly to the nation’s exchequer (taxes and foreign exchange earnings) as well to the overall upliftment of the communities around us. PI is a shining example of ‘Atmanirbhar’ – bringing self-reliance in the agricultural sector and, in turn, India’s food security. While PI’s digital transformation journey further encompasses people, processes and marketing initiatives, the company’s interventions to fight the COVID-19 crises are equally commendable.

Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of the Year to PI’s DSR initiative

    Evaluation parameters for the award:
    • Sustainability as not a stand-alone initiative but being integral to strategy and operations
    • Adherence to the 4Rs – Reduce, Recycle, Reuse and Recover • Innovative technique in resource conservation
    • Promotion and actual implementation of an initiative/ technique for visible results
    • Creation of a socially accepted and scalable project model through community participation
    • Involvement through training programs and on-ground support to achieve high impact
    • Benefits of the program across social-economic and environmental dimensions

PI’s CSR strategy involves integrated and all-round development of the communities in which the company operates. Aiming to increase farmers’ profitability in keeping with the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs), PI has consistently employed tech-savvy crop solutions including DSR (direct seeded rice) technique – one of its niche offerings which reduces labour cost, water usage, and land aridity – making for sustainable agriculture in Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, Karnataka, AP and Telangana. Over the years, DSR has positively impacted over 18 lac acres of farmland, benefitted 50,000 new farmers, and saved over 1.6 trillion litres of water in FY20 alone.

The Business Leader of the Year awarded to Mr. Mayank Singhal, VC & MD, PI Industries Ltd.

    Evaluation parameters for the award:
    • Leadership and visionary approach
    • Communicating inspiration and engagement
    • Commitment to vision/strategy and to the wider sustainability agenda
    • Future orientation
    • Integrity & ethics

Mr. Mayank Singhal has helmed the phenomenal growth of PI for over 20 years, seeing it grow from a small formulations manufacturer to a vertically integrated, science-led, most valued AgChem company in the country and among the most respected in the world.
