Key Safety Programs
Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS)
A proactive program that empowers employees to identify, report, and correct unsafe behaviours in real time. It fosters a culture of personal accountability and continuous safety improvement.
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
Systematic identification of hazards, assessment of risks, and application of control measures to mitigate or eliminate them.
Process Safety Management (PSM)
A system for identifying and managing risks in critical operations involving hazardous chemicals. It ensures safe process design, handling, and emergency readiness at every stage.
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Used to safely isolate energy sources during maintenance, this system prevents accidental start-up of machinery or exposure to hazardous energy.
5S
Systematic organisation of the workplace, standardisation of practices, and implementation of measures to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Facility-specific protocols, mock drills, and evacuation plans to ensure teams are trained to respond effectively to fire, chemical spills, or medical emergencies.
Permit-to-Work System
A controlled access protocol for high-risk jobs like hot work, confined space entry, and electrical maintenance. It ensures all safety preconditions are met before work begins.
Contractor Safety Management
Comprehensive onboarding, training, and supervision protocols for contract workers. Ensures all external personnel meet PI’s safety expectations before accessing operational zones.
Safety Communication & Engagement
Daily toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and multilingual training sessions reinforce awareness across shifts. Initiatives like National Safety Week drive ownership at every level.
Industrial Hygiene Monitoring
Regular monitoring of air quality, noise levels, and potential chemical exposures in work environments. This ensures early detection of hazards and helps maintain safe exposure limits in compliance with global occupational health standards.
Performance & Impact
Our OHS performance isn’t just measured internally, it’s recognised by leading national bodies and industry forums. With consistently strong audit outcomes, a zero-fatality record, and a data-backed approach to incident tracking, PI Industries continues to set the benchmark in operational safety.

Building a Zero-Harm Culture
OHS at PI is not reactive. It’s preventive, predictive, and people-led. Our systems are built to identify risk early, respond fast, and continuously evolve. Because safety doesn’t just protect people, it builds trust, performance, and resilience.
Product Integrity Begins with Product Safety
Our product safety practices span research, development, manufacturing, and post-market use, ensuring full-spectrum protection for people, ecosystems, and end users. We follow a science-led, globally benchmarked product stewardship framework that places health and environmental safety at the core of innovation.
Aligned with Global and National Standards
We adhere to stringent safety protocols across all regulatory fronts.
National Standards
PI follows all Indian statutory safety requirements, including those set by CIBRC, Insecticides Act, and Environmental Protection Rules.
OECD Guidelines
Our safety evaluations follow the OECD protocols on toxicology, ecotoxicology, residue analysis, and environmental fate, ensuring scientific credibility and global acceptability.
Consumer Safety & Responsible Use
Each product is accompanied by Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), clear labelling, and safe-use guidelines. We actively engage with distributors and farmers to ensure informed usage and minimal risk exposure.
ISO 45001

Our Product Safety Framework
Embedding safety from lab to land, our product stewardship framework ensures that every product meets the highest standards of human, environmental, and regulatory safety at every stage of its lifecycle.
Product Risk Assessments
A proactive program that empowers employees to identify, report, and correct unsafe behaviours in real time. It fosters a culture of personal accountability and continuous safety improvement.
Regulatory Surveillance
A central compliance team monitors evolving global and domestic regulatory landscapes to update formulations, labels, and protocols accordingly.
Traceability & Label Integrity
All packaging and labelling follow globally recognised hazard communication systems (e.g. GHS), ensuring traceability and correct usage information.
End-User Education
We invest in community training programs, farmer workshops, and safe-use demonstrations to reduce misuse and exposure risks on the ground.
Cross-Functional Review Committees
Dedicated internal safety committees review every new product for approval against toxicological thresholds and risk classifications.
