Introduction

COLFOS is ready to use insecticide with active ingredients Ethion & Cypermethrin having contact & stomach action. It is effective against Bollworms on Cotton.

Method of Application

  • Use 150 – 200 litre of water volume per acre for effective spray

Antidote

  • Wash skin with 5% sodium bicarbonate solution. Wash the eyes with 3% sodium bicarbonate and then administer 1 to 2 drops of 1% homatropine solution.
  • Immediately inject 2mg atropine sulfate i.v. repeat if necessary at 15 min.
  • Interval until the pulse is accelerated, mouth and skin become dry and pupil dilate.
  • Administer 2 PAM i.v. infusion of 1-2 gm dissolved in 10 CC distilled water slowly taking 10-15 gm.
  • 2 PAM should be given in conjunction with Atropine and not alone.
Precautions

  • Keep away from heat, food and animal feed.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • Read & follow all instructions on the label & leaflet carefully.
  • Save the container with the label to show to the physician in case of accidental poisoning.
Mode of Action

  • Ethion- Non-systemic with a predominate contact action. Ethion is an Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, which is responsible for the inhibition of the enzyme Acetylcholinesterase resulting in a blockage in the transmission of nerve impulses in insects.
  • Cypermethrin- Sodium channel modulator. Keep sodium channels open thereby causing hyperexcitation and in some cases nerve block.
