PI Industries Achieves Registration of Pioxaniliprole, India’s First Discovered Insecticide Active Ingredient

21-Sept-2026

PI Industries has achieved a landmark milestone with the registration of Pioxaniliprole in India, covering both the technical material and formulation. This achievement marks the successful culmination of PI’s journey in taking its first proprietary molecule from discovery through development to registration, underscoring the company’s growing capabilities in innovation-led agricultural science.

As Pioxaniliprole reaches farmers as Pioxazon, the science now moves from discovery to market. It begins a larger journey of taking Pl innovation from India to farmers across the world.

In its formal observations, the Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) recognised Pioxaniliprole as the first insecticide active ingredient discovered in India, making this a significant milestone not only for PI Industries, but also for India’s crop protection innovation ecosystem.

The approval was granted during the 476th meeting of the Registration Commit tee under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

Approved Crops and Target Pests

The registered Pioxaniliprole 20% w/v SC formulation has been approved for use across multiple crops and pests –

Rice: Yellow Stem Borer, Leaf Folder I Fall Armyworm I Chilli:  Fruit Borer, Tobacco Caterpillar I Tomato: Fruit Borer I Bengal Gram: Pod Borer

Advancing Indigenous Innovation

The registration aligns with the Government of India’s objective of promoting research and development within the country and fostering indigenous technologies for the benefit of Indian farmers.

For PI Industries, this milestone represents far more than a regulatory approval. It reflects over a decade of scientific research, investment, persistence and collaboration across teams to transform an idea into a globally competitive innovation.

Pioxaniliprole adds a new dimension to that journey by demonstrating the company’s ability to originate proprietary science and intellectual property and advance it through the entire innovation lifecycle, from discovery to commercialisation.
